    President's Message

July was a fun month, especially for KARW. On July 4th, we had a great time at the Town Center parade. We want to thank our State Representative Charles Cunningham for sponsoring our float in the parade. And on July 13th, we hosted a New Member Coffee. Our officers each shared descriptions of their job and how they perform the tasks involved. Our guests were also advised about their membership in TFRW, as well as NFRW. Our guests were very receptive and we were so proud to have a great turn out for this event.

We have a busy lineup for August events and encourage you to attend, and bring friends:

Please join us at 11AM on August 8th for a CHAT where our guest speaker, Karen Newton, the Community Liaison for the National Federation of Republican Women, will be sharing with us how to maintain better relationships within our club, our community and with NFRW. She will help us fine tune our goals and objectives as we move forward this year and plan for next year.

On August 17th, at 6PM, please join us at the Kingwood Community Center for a Meet the Candidates Forum. As you know, our election will be held Tuesday, November 7th, and you will want to be informed about the candidates. ALL conservatives in the Kingwood and surrounding areas are welcome to attend this event – men and women. Please bring your family and friends.

On August 23rd, at 7PM, please join us at Spring Creek BBQ in Atascocita for The Presidential Debate.

On August 30th, KARW will be attending a special luncheon. Greater Houston Council’s Anniversary and the Anniversary of the 19th Amendment will celebrate with Hats Off to Women. KARW will have a table at this luncheon. Tickets are $75 each, and it’s at the Junior League of Houston. Check in and Meet and Greet at 11AM Program and luncheon 11:30AM Senator Joan Huffman will be guest speaker.
Attire: As a nod to our suffragette sisters, hats and long pearls are encouraged!

As you can see, KARW has some exciting events coming up. You will be receiving details to each event and for your RSVP. I hope you will make every effort to attend these functions and bring your friends.

And please save the date of March 2, 2024 for our Texas Roundup celebration. Details to follow.

    KARW 2024 Fundraising Event-
    The Texas Roundup

The Ways and Means Fundraising Committee has announced a new and exciting fundraising event for 2024.  For the last number of years, KARW has hosted a biannual Mardi Gras as our major fundraising event.  Over the past few years other local clubs and organizations have jumped on our bandwagon and hosted their own Mardi Gras celebrations in the same month.  The Ways and Means/Fundraising Committee has been meeting for months to decide on a departure from the old and to bring something new to KARW.  After much debate and careful research, it has been announced that KARW will host “The Texas Roundup” in celebration of Texas Independence Day.

The Texas Roundup fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at The Barn at Four Pines in Crosby.  The event will feature a live and silent auction, DJ with country line dancing, cigar rolling, whiskey tasting, professional photo, exciting games, bull riding machine, a delicious bar-be-que buffet, and an open bar! Yee Haw!

Look for a “save the date” card coming soon with more information and ticket prices.

    Legislative Update

Members, please refer to our website for the complete and detailed Legislative Update complied by our Legislative Chair, Pat Morlen.  The full Legislative Update can be found on our website along with monthly updates.  These updates provide critical information and action you can take.  Included in this month’s update is a timeline of the legislative sessions regarding the current bills.

    Campaign Activities

Campaign and Legislative Committee meets once a month.  All members are briefed and given a synopsis of upcoming legislature and how it will impact our lives.  We also discuss any needs or issues that are brought to our attention from Republican candidates.  We partner with them to understand how we can best support them in their efforts to get elected.  Please reach out to Pat Morlen at LEGISLATIVE@KARW.ORG if you are interested in joining this important committee.
