Campaign July 2024 – Republican Convention

Good Day this is the editor of the Updates and these are my opinions as an introduction to the articles below.

This is just a tiny bit of what has been going on at the Republican Convention. Our own Susie Cintron is there, and I am going to see if she will give us a write-up about her experiences at the Convention.

As everyone has seen we started our convention with an attempted Assassination of our nominee President Trump. Sadly, one person was killed and two were critically injured. Our nominee President Donald Trump proved his grit and stamina showing the crowd at the rally that he is a fighter, and he is our fighter. We all need to be as strong as him if we are going to take our country back. It is time for all of us to get to work to win this election.

JD Vance is now our nominee for Vice President, he has proven himself to be a fighter he is young, smart and he is the new face of the United Republican Party. This is now a younger smarter party ready to face the new challenges ahead. That does not mean older and experienced people aren’t needed look at President Trump this is a new party a more populus party where all are accepted, and their voices are heard.   We needed this change to march forward the party is evolving and that is a good sign and President Trump is the right man to lead the march.

Shots Fired at Trump in Apparent Assassination Attempt, Texas Officials React

Secret Service agents rushed the former president from the stage and the agency said Trump is “safe.”

While speaking at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, shots rang out in an apparent assassination attempt on the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told the Washington Post that a shooter has been killed and one audience member is dead — another person at the event is in serious condition.

“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania,” stated Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the United States Secret Service. “The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available.”

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow,” stated Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung.

In multiple videos of the incident online, faint gunshots can be heard ringing out, resulting in Trump grabbing his head and falling to the ground. Secret Service agents then rushed to the president’s aid.

Once the agents lifted the president up and began rushing him off stage, blood could be seen coming from the right side of his head in what appeared to be a grazing wound near his ear.

Trump paused the agents to salute the crowd and indicate that he was okay before being ushered to the presidential motorcade.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said, “I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.”

“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known currently about the shooter, who is now dead.

I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

President Joe Biden said in a statement, “I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”

“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller was at the rally, and was within close proximity to the former president when the shots rang out.

Gov. Greg Abbott responded to the attempted assassination of Trump, tweeting “They try to jail him. They try to kill him. It will not work. He is indomitable.”

“[Incident] erupts at President Trump’s Rally. Trump rushed off stage by secret service. Please everyone pray for President Trump and pray for the country,” tweeted Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Trump’s Texas campaign chairman.

Attorney General Ken Paxton said, “The world is evil. Praise God that President Trump was able to walk away on his own.  Praying for complete healing and that this person is captured immediately.”

“What a horrible and scary situation unfolding. Please join me in praying for President Trump and all those at the rally right now,” said Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont).

Tech mogul Elon Musk made waves by endorsing the Republican immediately following the incident.

“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” tweeted Musk.

“Violence targeted at any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable,” wrote Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro. “It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States.” Texas Republican Congressman Ronnie Jackson’s nephew was there and received a grazing wound from a bullet as well. We also know that two people were critically injured instead of one.

Elon Musk ‘Fully’ Endorses Donald Trump for President Following Assassination Attempt

Musk has said the first time he ever voted for a Republican was in 2022.

Minutes after the failed assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump, tech mogul Elon Musk “fully” endorsed him for president.

“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X.

The Wall Street Journal had previously reported that Trump was weighing the possibility of having Musk in an advisory role in the White House.

Musk has also donated to a super PAC working to elect Trump in 2024, according to Bloomberg.

“Dangerous times ahead,” Musk wrote in response to another X user, before revealing that he himself had faced attempts to assassinate him.

“Two people (separate occasions) have already tried to kill me in the past 8 months. They were arrested with guns about 20 [minute] drive from Tesla HQ in Texas.”

As news of the Trump assassination attempt circulated online, Musk was extremely active in providing his analysis of the situation — at one point he compared Trump to President Theodore Roosevelt, who was shot in 1912 while giving a speech and then finished the speech before going to the hospital.

Musk posted multiple criticisms of the U.S. Secret Service (SS), speculating that the failure was either “[e]xtreme incompetence or it was deliberate. Either way, SS leadership must resign.”

Other technology and business leaders have become more open about their support for the former president after the assassination attempt, with technology investor Bill Ackman also “formally” endorsing Trump for president.

Back in 2022, Musk admitted to voting for former Congresswoman Mayra Flores in her run for Texas Congressional District 23 — the first time, he said, he had ever voted for a Republican candidate.

Elon Musk has formed a PAC to give $45M a month to Get Out the Vote. Funds will be used for legal Ballot Harvesting, bringing people to the polls and numerous GET OUT TH VOTE programs.

Texas Officials React to Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance’s Selection as Donald Trump VP

Former President Donald Trump announced Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his 2024 running mate as the Republican National Convention kicked off in Milwaukee on Monday, two days after escaping an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Congratulations to Senator J.D. Vance, his wife, Usha, who also graduated from Yale Law School, and their three beautiful children. MAGA2024!”

Vance was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022 to succeed retiring Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH). He gained national prominence well before embarking on a political career when his memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” was published and soared to the top of best-seller lists.

At age 39, he’d be among the youngest vice presidents in American history.

In 2016, he was among the many Republican figures who came out staunchly opposed to Trump’s candidacy. But he has since changed his mind, becoming one of the former president’s biggest allies.

Trump’s campaign chair in Texas, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, said before the announcement, “The president has been polling people around him for the last few months on who he should pick. We’ve talked about it several times, starting months ago. I always said that someone who can be president on day one, heaven forbid, should anything happen to you.

“That never became more real than this weekend. In the last month, I supported one person at the top of my list.”

Gov. Greg Abbott, who at one point was on Trump’s shortlist for VP but who showed little interest, added, “A great decision by President Trump. President Trump and his VP Vance will Make America Great Once Again and unify our nation. America’s future looks brighter with their leadership.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said, “JD Vance is the right guy at the right time. I’m excited at what he brings to the ticket.”

Congressman Michael Cloud (R-TX-27) said, “Grateful to see Donald Trump has chosen a competent, capable and courageous Vice President nominee. Now more than ever we must work to unite America and push back against the evil that has been at work to divide and destroy our Nation.”

State Rep Dustin Burrows (R-Lubbock) added, “The momentum continues! A dream ticket of two patriots who will lead us into a stronger, brighter America! Congratulations, Senator JD Vance!”

Trump and Vance were officially made the GOP’s nominees for president and vice president on Monday.
