Jen Sitton 1st VP 2021
Jen Sitton has been a resident of the Lake Houston area since 2005 and currently resides in Eagle Springs of Atascocita. She joined KARW in 2011. She is a dedicated wife, mother, volunteer and strong, conservative supporter. She is married to Humble ISD Trustee and Board President, Robert Sitton. She successfully ran his 2011, 2013 & 2017 election and re-election campaigns. She is currently running his re-election campaign for the upcoming May election. They recently celebrated fifteen years of marriage. Jen and Robert have a his/hers/ours family. Children include: Jon (33), Cody (28), Keanen (19) and Kaitlyn (14). Jon is married to Katherina, a dyslexia specialist in New Caney ISD. They have two children: Robert John (RJ) age 12 and Avery age 6. Cody is an active member of the U.S. Navy, stationed at Fort Mead, Md., and works at the NSA as a Russian linguist. Keanen is a freshman at Lone Star College Kingwood, while Kaitlyn is in the eighth grade at West Lake Middle School. As a volunteer, Jen has served on the Humble ISD Education Foundation Board since 2012. She led the organization as Chairman of the Board from 2016 – 2018. She also chaired the annual Gala from 2012- 2016, raising more than $500,000 for innovative education grants for Humble ISD teachers. She also has served as PTA President at Pine Forest Elementary 2017-2018 and currently PTO President at West Lake Middle School. For her volunteerism and philanthropy, she was honored in 2016 with the prestigious Women of Achievement Award.
Regina Thompson 2nd VP 2021
Gina has lived in Kingwood since 1980. She is a widow with a son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren who live in Kingwood, a stepson in Florida, and a stepdaughter and two grandchildren in Oregon. She was in education for 41 years as a teacher, math department chairman, and district coordinator for the intermediate and middle schools’ math contest. She also ran fund raisers for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for 15 years. Gina was teacher of the year twice for her school and a finalist for the district in 1998.
After she retired, Gina joined KARW. She was on the nominating committee twice, a member of the Liberty Belles, and was on the phone committee for several years. She also served as second vice president of membership, treasurer, and now chairman of the phone committee. Gina was a council delegate for Greater Houston Council of Federated Republican Women for 2 years and was Historian for one year. This year she worked at a Republican polling location for the primary election.
Gina is also involved in her local community. She served on the board of the Woodland Hills Trails Association for several years. She continued her devotion to children by volunteering at a local elementary school library. Last year she began volunteering at Mission Northeast in New Caney.
Shannon Walker Treasurer 2021
Shannon Walker is a farmer's daughter from South Texas who, after graduating with a Master's Degree in Accounting, came to the big city of Houston in 2004 to pursue a career in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She has been married to her college sweetheart, Rick Walker, for 17 years. After her first daughter was born, Shannon put her career aside to raise children and create a loving home. Rick and Shannon were immediately drawn to the community of Kingwood to raise their 3 daughters and a golden doodle named Cooper.
Shannon utilizes her accounting knowledge by serving multiple non-profit organizations as Treasurer. She serves on the Stewardship Committee at Kingwood First Baptist Church where she has been a member for the past 13 years. Shannon was one of the 2018 recipients of the FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center's Women of Achievement award. When she's not running around the community, you can find Shannon curled up reading a good book with a hot cup of tea in hand.
After Hurricane Harvey devastated their community and destroyed their home, Rick and Shannon decided to enter the political arena with Rick's Congressional Campaign and advocate for federal funding for their flooded community. Shannon spent her time block walking, fundraising and organizing volunteers for the campaign all while living on the 2nd floor and being the general contractor for their flooded home. Shannon joined KARW in 2017 and has been involved in campaign activities for multiple Republican candidates and strives to keep her beloved State of Texas RED!
M'Liss Painter Recording Secretary 2021
M’Liss Painter graduated from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, California, and earned a BA in Communications and English. She later returned to LMU to earn a California Teacher’s Credential. Throughout her thirty-eight year teaching career, she has taught grades 2 through 12. As a teacher at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, she earned the distinction of Teacher of the Year. After retiring and moving to Houston, Texas four years ago, she decided to return to her profession and teaches Art at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School in Humble. M’Liss and her husband Charles married while he was serving as a lieutenant in the United States Navy. They recently celebrated thirty-six years of marriage and have three adult children, Matthew, Travis, and Shelley. M’Liss joined Kingwood Area Republican Women in July 2016 and accepted the position of Historian. She attended Abbott University Training, became a Voter Registrar, and has served as Delegate to the State Convention twice. She received the Family Time Women of Achievement Award for Human Services and was a Texas Federation of Republican Women Tribute to Women Honoree. M’Liss was nominated and served for two years as KARW President in 2018 and 2019. She currently serves on the KARW Board as Americanism Chair. She is passionate in her support of the Republican Party and its ideals and values. M’Liss is dedicated in her support of Republican candidates and elected officials. She has wholeheartedly embraced Texas as her new home.
Heather Broderson Corresponding Secretary 2021
Heather “Hedy” Brodersen grew up in Iowa. She joined the Marine Corps at 17 years old and served worldwide from 1987-2017. 27 of her 30 years of service were in the computer field, one year was serving in a protocol capacity and her 2 final years were in the Command Inspector General office. She graduated summa cum laude from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Technical Management and a minor in Security and Intelligence. Heather is now a certified Health Coach with a certificate from the Villanova School of Nursing.
Heather is married to Emanuel “Manny” Pierson and lives in Walden on Lake Houston. They have a daughter, Theresa and two dogs. Heather and Manny love to travel in their free time. She is a life member of various veteran organizations and spends time volunteering in veteran outreach and patriotic events in and around Houston. She is a member of Second Baptist Church in Kingwood and volunteers there as well.
